The purpose of this session is to summarize the instructor’s experience with, and provide the theoretical basis of recommendations for medical and surgical treatments of the visual system abnormalities associated with albinism. There will be a focus on our modern understanding of the visual system in albinism and how it is clinically evaluated. Discussions regarding indications for and types of medical and surgical treatment techniques will be discussed. There will some data presented and time for the audience to ask questions. At the conclusion of this lecture, the attendee will acquire knowledge that may assist in promoting vision and visual function in patients with albinism.
